How to Open the Mazda Key Fob

2. A replacement battery on hand (CR2025 battery)
3. A small flat head screwdriver or a professional electronics opening tool (preferred) 

Opening Your Mazda Key Fob

1. Press the auxiliary key button on the back of your key fob. This will give you access to the metal auxiliary key.
2. When you take the metal key out, you will see a slot on either side of the key fob case. 
3. If you’re using a flathead screwdriver, wrap the head of it in tape to reduce the risk of damaging your key fob.
4. Use either the opening tool or the screwdriver to pry the case open at the seam.
5. It’s essential to be careful and not try to force the key fob open. 
6. When the case is removed, make sure you put the pieces in an easy-to-find location. 

How to Replace a Dead Mazda Key Fob Battery

Now that you know how to open the Mazda key fob, you will need to replace the battery that is no longer working. This is a very quick process that should take no more than a few minutes:

1. Take off the battery cap and place it with the key fob case.
2. Your Mazda key fob battery should be fully exposed. When you remove the battery, do it with caution so that no damage occurs to the small rubber ring. 
3. The rubber ring will need to be replaced if it is scratched or damaged.
4. Once the rubber ring is properly in place, put the new replacement battery in position. The positive (+) side should be up, facing you.
5. Put the battery cap back on before reattaching the key fob case. Press until you hear them click into place.
